Merry Christmas

Not a festive pic - Herbie has another histiocytoma, under his chin this time. He also has a new blanket, an early Christmas present. Underneath his bottom at the moment is the foil that I'd baked some chicken in. Holly would like it, even though he's licked it clean, but as he's lying on it, there's no chance she'll get it tonight.

Herbie is quite arthritic now, and as he suffers gastric problems with most anti-inflammatories, all I can do is give him painkillers and Cortaflex. At some point I expect his back end will go, and that'll be it, but for now he's still my rickety old boy. Who won't share his foil with anyone.

Roll on Christmas. Lots and lots of foil.

Merry Christmas. I am sorry about the icky thing under Herbie's chin. But I'm glad to read that the three of you are still breathing and that you have access to painkillers. I don't think much more can be asked of life.

I got a job in November. I can't remember how long I was unemployed -- it just seemed to go on and on -- and I'm earning a paycheck again. I long, absolutely long, to be back in a place of my own with my dog, but I don't know when I can manage that.

Still, paychecks coming in. Health insurance. Can pay the car payment. Things could be worse. And they have been. So there is much to be thankful for, as the Thanksgiving Dinner TV commercials always say.

Dear Herbie,

I can only image that not hearing from you in three + months is not good news. Or, it means that you are off enjoying life so much that you don't have time to post. My sense it that it is the first. Fly free dear Herbie! I will always remember you as a fellow journeyer in the race against lymphoma. Your heart and perseverance are an inspiration to me. I will never forget you. :o*
